Itinerary information
Day 1 - Journey to Saadani & Afternoon Game Drive
Pick up from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar (via short flight or boat transfer) and head to Saadani National Park. Arrive in time for lunch and settle into your eco-lodge or beach camp. In the late afternoon, set off on your first game drive through the coastal acacia woodlands to spot giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks against a backdrop of ocean palm trees. Dinner and overnight near/in Saadani.
Day 2 - Wami River Boat Safari & Bush Walk
Begin the morning with a boat safari along the Wami River, exploring mangrove estuaries packed with pods of hippos, large Nile crocodiles, and vibrant bird species like kingfishers and fish eagles. Return for lunch and a restful afternoon. In the late afternoon, embark on a guided bush walk with an armed ranger to learn about coastal tracking, flora, and smaller wildlife up close. Day 3 - Full-Day Wildlife Tracking & Coastal Plains
A full day dedicated to tracking Saadani's diverse wildlife across open grasslands and coastal forests. Day 4 - Beach Day & Sunset Coastal Cruise
A full day at leisure to enjoy Saadani’s unique coastal edge. Relax on quiet, wild beaches, take a dip in the warm ocean water, or arrange an optional visit to a neighboring coastal village or green turtle breeding site (seasonal). In the late afternoon, enjoy a private sunset boat trip or beach walk as the sun drops behind the coastal wilderness. Dinner and overnight near/in Saadani.
Day 5 - Final Game Drive & Departure
A short early-morning game drive to catch predators and grazers at their most active. Return to the lodge for breakfast before your transfer back to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar for your onward journey.
